Bergsjön

Rescue teams have evacuated an eight-storey building at about half past nine this evening in Bergsjön area to the east of Gothenburg, when the tenants reported a powerful smell that makes it hard to breathe.

Mats Gränsmarck, rescue telephone operator, said that a number of tenants called and reported about a pungent smell, and they felt shortness of breath and burning in the eyes and throat.

Ambulances rushed to the place and many of the tenants were taken to hospital for treatment and tests.

Thomas Anderson, head of the rescue teams in the Greater Gothenburg area, said they found traces of tear gas in liquid form, and are now checking the place to find out the source of this gas.
