Smoke on a cargo train caused major disruption in rail services to and from Stockholm on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services sent experts to the train and requested a total stop of rail traffic, which affected large parts of southern Sweden.
The incident stopped all rail traffic between central station and the station in Karlberg in around an hour before it was lifted at 17. The stop affected the long-distance trains, SL’s commuter trains and the Arlanda Express.
But despite the fact that traffic was resumed, it could be delays in large parts of the country. Via its website, Transport Administration warns of disturbances on the following stations:
Alingsås, Aspen, Aspedalen, Stockholm Central, Falköping C, Floby, Floda, Flemingsberg, Flen, Göteborg C, Gnesta, Helenelund, Häggvik, Herrljunga, Huddinge, Järna, Jonsered, Katrineholm C, Karlberg, Knivsta, Lerum, Märsta, Mölnbo, Norsesund, Norrviken, Partille, Rotebro, Rosersberg, Skövde C, Stenkullen, Solna, Sollentuna, Stenstorp, Stockholm södra, Södertälje syd, Uppsala C, Ulriksdal, Upplands Väsby, Västra Bodarne, Vårgårda, Årstaberg och Älvsjö.
