Öresundsbron

When Sweden began imposing tight border control on it’s land and sea border since the beginning of this year, especially in the south and across the Öresund bridge, the number of refugees coming to Sweden have significantly declined.

At the same time, there has been a sharp increase in human trafficking operations in various forms!

Usually, the border police deals with about 20 people smuggling cases a year, but this number has reached more than 100 cases in 2015.

Since the beginning of this year, when Sweden started implementing border control, the number of human trafficking cases reached 34 cases in the first six weeks of this year alone.

Ewa-Gun Westford, a press spokeswoman for the Police in southern Sweden, said the smugglers in these cases are diverse, some of them are criminals and greedy, and some are doing this out of principle and sympathy with the refugees.
