Ulrika Årehed Kågström, Secretary General of the Swedish Red Cross, said the organization has strongly criticized the government’s proposal regarding not granting permanent residency to asylum seekers, especially children,which eliminates the possibility of family reunification.
Kågström confirmed that this government’s proposal is hasty and has not been studied well, and it has not been evaluated for future consequences, and it goes against the principles of Sweden and its human rights obligations.
Kågström said this criticism is the to the government’s proposal is the strongest ever, reflecting the deep concern of the adverse effects in the future, especially when minors loose the hope of reuniting with their families.
